She !

She visits me when I least expect
Urging me out of my slumber
In varying shades, finely decked
Always a multiple in number

She does to me what none else can
Pulls me into a trance
Carried away, in a very short span
My mind begins the dance !

She flows out of my mind as thoughts,
Speaks to the world for me
While I wonder at her plots,
Searching for the key

She is the one who gives me wings
Makes me fly high
Because of her, my heart sings
When I touch the sky

She sends me waves of love and hope
Wraps me in her kisses
With all tough moments, she helps me cope
All doubts, she dismisses

She shows me light when darkness falls
Nudges me forward , to move
Tired  I might be, still she calls
I’ve my calling to prove

She feeds my soul with the soothing tonic
Brave, she makes me feel
Throws out all thoughts, demonic
Slowly I begin to heal

She fuels me with the desire to win
Stand high on the pedestal
With her around as my lovely fin,
My victory seems celestial

She flies to me from a world unknown
Takes a place in my heart
Forever there, she’ll reside on the throne
Till death does us apart

Who is she, you seem to ask,
Oh  ! In joy I beam !!
My friend, in whose glory I bask,
My sweet, lively dream !!

Of fear and freedom...

Write Tribe

He seems to lurk in the darkness around
Making us shiver in silence
Though we keep him strictly drowned
At times he defeats our pretense

We call him fear, of the senses,
Of  soul, self, life and what not
Of failure, success and offenses,
Everywhere he has his slot !

Being afraid never ever works,
Just leaving  our hearts to bleed
Only if we uproot  the fear that lurks
Deep inside, we’ll succeed

Fear to try, keeps success at bay
You’re forced to keep your hood low
Fear to love keeps life away
Just the monotonous flow !

Here comes our time to marvel
At an idea that’s a difficult trade
What would our thoughts unravel
Only if we weren’t afraid ?

If fear was nowhere in my heart
And I wasn’t afraid at all
I’d pat my back for being smart
For never being anyone’s doll

I’d rewind the days I’ve lived so long
And find out the times gone wrong
I’d send my mistakes to where they belong
Embracing my life with a fresh song

I’d go back to days of struggle and pain
Show them that life’s such a treasure
And  tell them, I love them for the gain
They’ve bestowed on me with pleasure

I’d sing my soul out , letting my voice
Choose its own streams to flow
Happiness in life, is my own choice
No matter how the winds blow

Till my feet ache, I’d dance and dance,
Great heights beckoning me,
Sweet rhythms sending me into a trance,
Of all bondages, I’d break free

Out will come the words I’ve eaten
For the fear of hatred and rejection
Them, I’ll no more bother to sweeten
Out I’ll throw the dejection

I’d live a life, my very own ways
Live it with purpose and in style
The absence of fear would always amaze
But make every moment worthwhile !

Here I take the steps as a baby,
To bid goodbye to my fear
I’d face a fall en route, may be
But never shall I shed a tear

One of these days I’ll come out
Of the cocoon of anxiety , diffidence
Alive in my eyes would be a new sprout
Of strong and fearless confidence !

So, did you hear ?
About the Write Tribe Blog Carnival, I mean ?
It's been kicked off with a post on Everyday Gyaan, Corinne's lovely blog :)
Thank you, Corinne, for the wonderful prompt :)

And this is what I wrote :)
Some parts of the poem are tweaked facts :). Creative liberty, you see . I guess I'm allowed to :) :) . ( Like the shyness, diffidence and all that. I'm anything but shy :P)
Hope you enjoy :)

As I flutter by....

I live a life, of love and care,
Short but sweet, and very fair,
Full of colours and extremely vibrant,
You will never find me, for a moment, silent ;
I fly by , happy , cool and gay;
For me, it’s the ‘now’ that holds sway,
I count my life by moments, not years,
I find no time for sorrow or tears ;
My mission in  life is to  show you all,
That days are few, life is so small,
As you live, love and die,
Time just moves, with the flash of an eye.

Live your life, happily ever,
Despair not, fail at heart, never,
Please listen to me as I flutter by,
I am just a lovely butterfly !!

I am not much of a poetess.
It's just very recently that I discovered that I could play around with words.
I wrote this poem as a part of a story series which I'd planned to write, when I started this blog.
Somehow, I didn't complete the series, and it still remains so.
I thought of reproducing the poetry part of the story here.
(Yeah, Old wine repacked... I know :P )

A Lovely Drug !

You come at a time when my heart
Has broken to a million pieces
And I don’t know how long it will be
Before the heartache ceases !

I find myself being drawn to you,
Your love is the music to my soul
I yearn for the rush of madness
In bitter-sweet pain, I roll….

Your eyes stir the longing within me
For a life of joy and passion
I know I’ve found my soulmate
In a strange yet pretty fashion….

Your presence fills me with joy unknown
I begin to nurture my wings
They grow back to help me soar the sky
Slowly, sweetly , my heart sings….

God knows my soul needs a balm
He sends you to me as his gift
You’re the best drug I can get
To give my spirits a lift !

Love’s always the best medicine
For an aching heart, we say…
Blessed am I, in the whole world,
To have your love, this way !!

The First Phone Call from Heaven : Mitch Albom - A Different take !

The new novel from best-selling author and Free Press columnist Mitch Albom, 'The First Phone Call From Heaven,' arrives in stores Tuesday.

Language : English
Author : Mitch Albom
Published by : Hachette Books
Year of Publication : 2013
ISBN : 9781847442260
Genre : Fiction

No, this isn’t a book review,
It’s just an attempt to show
A new book from my point of view,
And with all its literary glow.

So, I picked this brand new book up,
Which promised to make me believe;
I lapped it up like a hungry pup,
And wiped my lips on my sleeve :)

The books speaks of the voices from the dead,
That some residents of Coldwater receive;
Those voices send across a message to spread,
Even when the recipients grieve.....

Why do these voices choose to call,
And what and why do they seek to  convey,
The messages they speak out to one and all
And why all of them choose a Friday !

They’re happy in heaven, the voices say,
That’s a  place only for love,
Even when those who get the calls pray,
That this must be a sign from above.

The recipients take time to reveal to the world,
The secret about these calls from heaven,
Until one woman, spills it, being bold,
And confusion begins for the brethren…

There’s a young man ,who has lost his wife,
Whose young son wants to talk to mum ;
He thinks this a hoax, about the eternal life,
A temptation to which he will not succumb…

As non believers start moving to faith,
And throng the churches for the holy mass,
The protesters call it a display of wraith,
They say , this is an impasse’.

The young widower, Sully is his name,
Yearns to know and prove the truth;
The quest for this knowledge sets him aflame
And his desire is not easy to sooth !

How he goes ,the route he takes,
Is the beauty of the whole new game ;
Does what he learn soothe his aches,
Or does it put someone at blame ?

Is there really a life after death
That promises to return in some way ?
Or does it stop with the very last breath,
And the grief is for time to allay ?

These are the questions, we’ll find here,
With answers strewn across the text.
The language fills you with pleasure, sheer
The pages turn unknowingly to next !

Is there a climax ,as is the normal rule ?
There sure is, as you’ll find out ;
What that is , and is it really cool
Is something I’m secretive about !

Mitch Albom, I needn’t speak of much,
He’s a wizard with words that enter deep ;
He weaves the story with such a human touch
That at times, the pages make you weep….

A book that makes you feel warm and good,
Its pages , worth a fine treasure…
How clear I feel in thoughts as I should,
Is not something I would measure !

So, here’s a book for you all to read,
Please do , and share with me your views…
I’m sure it’s a good choice to feed
Your soul, if you decide to choose !!

So, that's how I poetically reviewed a book :D I purchased my copy from Flipkart. The views are my own, not in any way paid and influenced only by my reading of the book . I managed to read this in three days, using the time that I travel to and from work, to the maximum. :D :D

A talk with the writers' muse :)

The Time keeper was born from his inspiring pen,
He made me spend my Tuesdays with Morrie....
He gave us the first phone call from heaven,
I salute you, sir, for words that create glory !

Next comes a woman, the queen of mystery,
She made me fall in love with a Belgian brain...
And the Mousetrap that did create history,
Madam, my love for you, is pretty insane :)

Next, the man, who , in his village of dreams,
Gave birth to Swami, Nagaraj and the Guide....
You stretched our reading to both the extremes,
Love you, truly ,you’re the nation’s pride !!

To all the pens above, that enrich our lives,
Here are two questions I would ask ;
What exactly do you do when the muse arrives,
Do you wait, or get on with the task ?

What drives you to take the plunge into the pool,
Of words, and weave magic and marvel ?
For writers like you all, your quill is a tool
That etches out the world you unravel !

Without all your words, our world is so dry,
That explains all that I have to say ;
May they make our fancies soar high,
That is what we wish, hope and pray !!

The prompt this weekend is, " Your favourite author and what you’d like to discuss with him or her".

I couldn't identify one favourite ( I know it sounds stupid, still :D ) , so I created a short poem about three authors I love :)

This one is in 'Multiples of 100' format. Three stanzas make a drabble :)

My A-to-Z Story :)

Here we are, the alphabet pals,
We travelled together , guys and gals,
A month long journey through the letters with fun,
In twenty-six days , we got the job done !

Stories, poems, musings galore,
Each day saw us yearning for more,
Never did it seem a boring chore,
We met, loved, supported our friends we adore !

This blog saw a story in parts,
Which was, of course, meant to invade the hearts :)
It stirred a soul or not, I can never claim,
But they told me it was loved, all the same !!

Also born here were , flash fictions and drabbles
Which , I admit, were more of scrabbles :P
Yet they brought me so much of love,
That, I believe, is a blessing from above !

Oh My ! What a sweet month was that,
And it leaves us all, wearing the top hat !
Crowning us all , with the survivors’ aura,
And bringing with it, happy moments, plethora !!

As we bid adieu to ‘ A to Z ’,
We’re sure , not going to put it to bed,
We’re waiting for the seasons to come a full round,
And bless us again with the challenge, so renowned !!

That pretty much sums up my feelings, as I sit down to pen the ‘reflections’ post.

Needless to say, this has been a beautiful month, as much in terms of enjoyment as in terms of creativity.
We all have enjoyed the ‘A-to-Z’ challenge immensely...
for the adrenaline rush that it triggered in us.....
for the ideas it put into our heads....
for the wonderful pieces of writing that enriched our days and filled our moments with so much fun...
for the new friends we made.....
for the friendships we strengthened....
for those wonderful moments of support we received...
for the smiles that lit up our lips when we read a beautiful comment....
for the camaraderie that flowered everywhere…

On the personal front, this gave me a chance to explore more into whatever little talent I possess with the words.
I had promised to write a ‘Serial Story’ and a ‘Random Post’ per letter, which meant I was literally throwing myself into the challenging waves with two posts per day.
I tried scheduling some posts, but I found that some sort of  ‘Inverse Zeigarnik effect’ was troubling me, because even after scheduling, I kept thinking of how to improve them, rather than dwelling on the ‘posts to be’. This wasn’t helping, so I resorted to writing and scheduling just ‘a day in advance’, so that it didn’t leave me much time to think of what I’d already written.

Moreover, my serial story was gaining flesh and blood with every moment of thought , so I had to have some time for minor alterations in the plot. Hence I thought, writing daily would be a better choice.

I’m happy  that I could do both posts per day, as I’d wanted to, and come out of it unscathed :D

On the blog hopping front, I utilized early morning hours and covered some bookmarked blogs every day. The rest of them are being covered now.
I’m sure everyone out there is doing the same, catching up with all the wonderful blogs .
We’re here to support each other and win, and every visit makes us happy !

Some of us were new to the blog world, some of us were debutants at the challenge, many of us were confused and most of us were doubtful if we would ever complete it.
There were many moments of self-doubt, or instances of diminishing interest.
But none of this stopped us from going on with the challenge, did it ?

Many of us were writing on chosen themes, which were as varied as they could ever be  and many of us were writing at random.
Either way, it was a ‘heart-and-soul’ effort for all of us, was it not ?

So, what are we waiting for ? Let’s celebrate !

We’re the happy Survivors of the challenge !

Congratulations to all those who entered and came out of the maze !

A big THANK YOU to the teams behind the A to Z, who worked behind the scenes to make it a grand success. You inspire us in more ways than one !

And a big HUG to all those who entered, but couldn't make it, for some reason or the other .
Never mind the challenge, there's always a next time here.
We're always there for you, you're special to us in all ways !!

There were many visitors, both participants and non-participating supporters, and most of them left good comments here :) Though I’ve not replied to the comments, I sure will :)
Every visit, every comment is important to us bloggers, and it helps us grow, as writers, bloggers and as individuals !

Thanks for all the support and love !

The challenge yet again proves that we can achieve anything that  we want, come hell or high water !

Let’s keep up the spirit of togetherness in the days to come, and support each other and grow together in this wonderful world that’s the blogosphere !

The Beginning.....

birds flying in the sky2 300x199 birds flying in the sky

Today I’ll begin to travel back,
Back through the embers of time;
Time has bequeathed a lot of lessons,
Lessons that make the heart chime…..

Today I’ll begin to count my riches
Riches that fill me with bliss;
Bliss so supreme, so full of glory,
Glory that I’ll never want to miss…..

Today I’ll begin to live my thoughts,
Thoughts that flavour my senses
Senses which form my hours and days,
Days with no pretences……

Today I’ll begin to grow my wings,
Wings will help me soar high ;
High up above the birds and clouds,
Clouds that line the blue sky….

Today I’ll begin to shine the light,
Light that lives in my soul;
Soul so vibrant, so full of love,
Love that makes me whole…..

Today I’ll begin to nourish my life,
Life that’s precious and small;
Small , yet big to achieve my dreams,
Dreams make me live, after all !

A Hope, A Promise !!

As I had mentioned my previous post, my thoughts have come dressed up in Poetry over the past few days.

Of these, the Loop Poetry is something which I found really interesting, challenging and refreshing. I'm sure it is a delight to anyone who reads it !

As the curtains fall on the UBC today, I am posting yet another Loop Poetry.

This time, it is  A Hope, A Promise.....

The heart is filled with voices,
voices that reach me deep,
deep in my eyes is the pain,
pain on which I’d rather not weep....

Thoughts aren’t expressed or spoken,
spoken words carry no weight,
weight lies waiting in my bosom,
bosom that knows not to hate….

Eyes speak volumes of longing,
longing for a glance that’d  speak,
speak of a hand that I shall hold,
hold on to, as my knees turn weak….

Words are sometime the arrows,
arrows do create the spite,
spite that  pairs up with anguish,
anguish which erupts in a fight….

A promise is all that I can offer,
offer to nurture peace,
peace makes life so delicious,
delicious, that aches and worries cease….

Love is the balm for the soul,
soul, full with sweetness so alive,
alive in my heartbeat is a hope,
hope that love shall always thrive !!

That is UBC Post 31 :-)

And I hereby complete the Ultimate Blog Challenge :-)

Be with me.....

Over the past few days, I have attempted to dress my thoughts in different poetic forms, the major ones being, the Septolet, the Diamante, the Minute Poemthe Nonet, the Monorhyme and the Loop Poetry.

All are challenging forms to write in, given the fact that I have never ever tried my brains at poetry, before the blog took birth.

As I was thinking what my blog should sport before the UBC comes to a close ( even though we can continue the challenge if we wish to), I was inspired to write yet another Minute Poem.

After boiling all the thoughts in the cauldrons of the mind, and adding the other ingredients in the correct order and stirring the right number of times, here is the Invigoration potion errr... poem I've been able to concoct...

:-P

Be with me.....

When the world turns hostile at me,
you are to be,
the peace I crave,
though I look brave….

When love flies away like a bird,
give me a word,
that you’ll be near,
to wipe my fear….

When iniquity traps the soul,
And eats me whole,
send me the light,
the moral might.

That is UBC 30 for me :-)

I did, did I ?

Ok,I know it seems out of place, but that question wasn't asked simply :-)

I did something which made me ask that. I tried writing a Palindrome poem.

A Palindrome is a word, a phrase, a verse or a sentence that reads the same forward and backward.

Something like the question in the title :-P .....So now you know why the title ;-)

Here's my first Palindrome poem.... the World...

The world,
to me, you are,
my need to live life in full spirits
the voices in my heart speak to me
as the days fly past
I find myself growing with you
my love for you shall never end
nothing else can be my gift to you, but
~~ my soul ~~
nothing else can be my gift to you, but
my love for you shall never end
I find myself growing with you
as the days fly past
the voices in my heart speak to me
my need to live life in full spirits
to me, you are,
the world.

That brings my UBC count to 29 :-)
